Dear Secretaries, dear Colleagues,

 

In light of the number of requests we have received in recent days, we would like to share some practical information with you regarding the Women's Breakfast, which is to be held in the context of the forthcoming European Conference of Presidents of Parliament.

 

The Women's Breakfast is exclusively for women Presidents or Vice-Presidents of Parliament and Parliamentary Assemblies. Other Members of Parliament and staff are not allowed in the meeting room.

 

Accompanying staff (staff members, security officers, etc.) can wait in a nearby room (with Wi-Fi and a coffee station) until the meeting ends. They will be assisted by Senate staff and escorted back to the entrance of Palazzo Giustiniani to rejoin their respective Presidents.

 

There will be no assigned seating at the breakfast table. Women Presidents and Vice-Presidents will collect their nameplates as they enter the room and then take their seats.

 

We have arranged simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Italian. Presidents or Vice-Presidents requiring interpretation in other languages may bring an interpreter to sit behind them. Please provide the name of any accompanying interpreter in advance.

 

All Presidents and Vice-Presidents must wear the badge they received during delegation registration on 14 October. For those delegations with women Presidents or Vice-Presidents who were unable to collect their badges on 14 October, it will be possible to collect them before breakfast on 15 October between 08:00 and 08:30 am.

 

As mentioned in the letter from the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Ms Petra Bayr, to all women Presidents and Vice-Presidents, the discussion will focus on two questions:

 

• How can we, as women leaders, strengthen our collective action to turn the current backlash against women’s rights into a breakthrough for equality?

 

• What concrete steps are you personally committed to taking in your parliament, political life, and country to help create a fairer, more equal, inclusive, and resilient society?

 

During the meeting, Presidents and Vice-Presidents will be invited to scan a QR code to access the form we have prepared, where they can reply in writing to these questions. The President of the Parliamentary Assembly's idea is to create a digital wall with contributions from all women Presidents and Vice-Presidents, to be published on the Assembly’s website at the end of the Conference. We would also like to invite you to send to [email protected] a photo of your President or Vice-President that we could use for this purpose.
